Author: jcicork

Hello to our Members, Patrons and Sponsors!

Welcome to the First Quarter Round Up for JCI Cork 2015!

We have gotten off to a great start this year, becoming the country’s fastest growing Junior Chamber as well as one of the largest Junior Chambers in Ireland. Our monthly meetings have seen these members come together to #MeetLearnGrow, plan projects, socialise and fundraise.

Want to see more? The wonderful people at Attik Designs have provided us with a brand new website!

January:

JCI Cork went to Dublin for the First National Meeting followed by a Launch for the year in the Clarion Hotel Cork, one of our biggest supporters. The event was attended by over 60 of Cork’s active young people eager to learn more about the organisation. We welcomed Deputy Lord Mayor Kenneth O’Flynn, JCI Ireland National President Jani Hirvonan and President of Cork Chamber of Commerce Gillian Keating who all spoke about JCI in Cork and the impact the organisation makes locally, nationally and globally.

February:

With so many new members on board JCI Cork headed to one of their Patrons, Electric on the South Mall for a special edition of New Members Networking @Supper Club. After a delicious meal, some old-time games and plenty of introductions we came away with money raised to put towards our community and business projects. Members of the Local Board also travelled to Galway for Local officer training where they learned best practices for running a non-profit organisation.

March:

In March our members put the money to good use - it was time to put the two together and start planning a project! New members gathered in the one of our Patron premises, the Clarion Hotel, where we split into two groups : Business and Community. Members surveyed the problems they found in Cork, brainstormed solutions, pitched their project ideas and then created committees and assigned tasks. JCI Cork also travelled to JCI Mayo who hosted the JCI Spring Conference and the branch had a win with President Mary-Kate Portley chosen to represent Ireland at the European Public Speaking Championships in Isntanbul this June!
